Mr. Dante Lee, Executive Director of the Healthcare Excellence Academy Lab School, is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 academic school year. The HEALS program will accept only 50 new students, selected through a lottery process.
Due to continued growth and strong community interest, admission will be limited to two cohorts of twenty-five students each. Twenty-five students will be selected from Smyth/Wythe County, and twenty-five students will be selected from the City of Bristol VA and Washington County. If the number of applicants exceeds the fifty available spots, all completed applications submitted by the deadline will be entered into a random lottery drawing to ensure a fair and equitable selection process. The lottery is scheduled to take place virtually on April 2.
The lottery system reflects the school’s commitment to accessibility and transparency. Once selected, families will be notified and provided with next steps for enrollment. A waitlist will also be established from the remaining applicants.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to complete and submit their applications as soon as possible before the March 31 deadline.
